Do Something Out of the Ordinary

Spontaneity is such a great ‘trick up your sleeve’ when it comes to getting creative with teens.

And who doesn’t love a surprise?!

  • Give them their favourite dinner for breakfast!

  • Say you're taking them to the supermarket (YAWN!) but drop them off at their friend’s house instead while you go food shopping.

  • Tell them they’re in control! If you’re driving somewhere (or it could be when walking too), let them decide which way to go! Get lost and see where you end up (obviously be aware of wandering into dodgy areas!)

  • If you dare - hand over a ‘yes’ day to them! Whatever they ask for, you have to say ‘yes’ (within reason!)

  • Swap clothes! Get dressed as them and surprise them with your ‘outfit for the day’! Maybe they’ll then ‘dress like you’ and you could spend the day like that? Could you swap roles too (that would be interesting!)? You could create a video where you play each other - picking out the common things you say and do (without being cruel of course)

Daughters dressing like their Dad! 🤣
