Shadow Play with your Hands

Basically shadow puppetry! But obviously, what you get your shadow puppets to do could change because of the age of your kids, or maybe they want to do their own.

Create a character - maybe its tries to talk to your child in a silly accent? Or maybe it swears (mildly, and age-dependant of course - you know your child). Or maybe if you child joins in, its an opportunity to ‘talk’ about things that have been bothering them - through a ‘third person’. This can be a useful tool for this kind of talking.

Or make it more of a light-hearted moment:

• Can you both try and create different animals with your shadows? Who can do the best dog, or chicken, or unicorn!

• Video the ‘shadow show’ on the wall?

• Can your shadow puppet ‘interfere’ with real life - can you make your shadow ‘tickle’ someone’s foot for example?! Or shake their hand? (see examples below)
