Out in the Countryside

⛰️ Collect sounds - see if they can record them, and then compile them into a song or soundtrack when they get home (GarageBand could be good for this, or another similar app).

⛰️ What’s the furthest (but smallest!) thing they can see? (Testing your eyesight this one - can you see it too?)

⛰️ Spot letters in nature - create a ‘found alphabet’ and take photos of each one so that you can spell a message or word out later.

⛰️ Find a ‘memory stick’ and poke each other to remember a memory about [insert a topic]. For example, ‘Remember something I did as a newborn baby’; ‘Remember one of my first words’; ‘Remember what you thought of your primary school teacher.'; ‘Remember what happened when… [funny story!]’; ‘Remember when Grandad said…’; etc etc. Try and keep it to happy memories, and things that evoke nostalgia.

⛰️ SKIP. Down a quiet country path, where no one is watching. Why? Because it’s joyous and child-like, and we all need more of both!

⛰️ Whistle while you walk (or try to in my case! Maybe hum instead)… Whistle a well-known tune for everyone else to guess what it is!

⛰️ Ask “If that tree came to life, what would it say?’ - or say the same of something inanimate which is near you. Maybe the tree doesn’t like being near the poo-bin because all the dogs so their business near him! Or maybe that bench LOVES hearing the people who sit on her and listening to their conversations! Such a nosey bench she is. Or maybe that fence wishes it didn’t hide all the beautiful gardens on one side from everyone walking on the other side!
